Varrow, Inc.  has been selected as one of the Triad’s 50 fastest-growing, privately held companies in the The Business Journal’s 13th-annual Fast 50 awards program.

The honorees were announced Thursday September 23, 2011 at a gala event hosted by N.C. A&T State University’s Alumni-Event Center. Varrow is featured in the special Fast 50 section included with this week’s (Sept. 23-29) edition of The Business Journal.

The awards program is sponsored by Wells Fargo and Smith Leonard PLLC, along with Top 10 reception host Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP and co-sponsor Time Warner Cable Business Class.

Through a confidential process, nominations are submitted to Smith Leonard, which verifies each company’s revenues and then ranks the nominees based on a formula that factors in both dollar and percentage change for their three most recent fiscal years.

To be eligible, each company must:

• Be a private, for-profit venture;

• Have its U.S. headquarters in the Triad; and,

• Have finished three full fiscal years and had sales of at least $2 million in its last fiscal year.

While this year’s list includes many repeat winners, there are 19 companies making their first appearance. In fact, three first-time honorees are in the top 10, and seven of the top 10 have emerged on the list only within the past three years.

Honorees this year come from emergent sectors, such as life sciences, logistics, technology and advanced manufacturing, as well traditional industries, such as furnishings and manufacturing.
